Hofuru (ホフル) is a humanoid bake-danuki and minor character in Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea. She works under the Totsusa Kingdom.
Physical Description[]
Hofuru wears traditional Japanese clothing including a blue kimono, white nagajuban (kimono undergarment), dark blue hakama, light violet tabi, and black zōri. She has long dark gray hair in a hime cut, with the ends being a lighter gray. Her tanuki ears are half light gray and half dark gray and the tip of her tail is light gray while the rest is dark gray. She also has a green leaf on top of her head. In her in-game appearance, her kimono has a yagasuri pattern, and the thong of her footwear is a light gray. She has blue eyes with white pupils and fair skin as well.
Personality[]
Hofuru is very composed, [2] not expressing her emotions often.
Background[]
Hofuru used to reside in the Yōkai World. At an undefined time later on, she was exiled from her hometown. [3] She abandoned her name and past [3] and began serving under Totsusahime as her servant. At times, she will look at the leaves of a tree and remember a "hateful white fox." [3]
In Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea, Hofuru accompanies and assists Totsusahime in her plan to invade the Sea Kingdom. When Hofuru arrives at the kingdom’s entry, she attacks Tatsumiya and shapeshifts into her. This at first deceives Wadanohara, but her cover is quickly discovered once she is called out by the real Tatsumiya. Hofuru then battles with Wadanohara but loses. When the Totsusa Kingdom later reconciles with the Sea Kingdom, Hofuru retreats with Totsusahime.
When the Sea of Death comes to attack the Blue Sea, Hofuru is one of the allies to help fight them off.

Artamos[]
Hofuru's unrequited feelings for Artamos.
Artamos is Hofuru's master. They appear to be on good terms. As of the 2017/10/21 relationship charts update, Hofuru is shown to have one-sided romantic feelings towards Artamos. Not much else has been disclosed about their relationship.
Totsusahime[]
Totsusahime is Hofuru's princess. They are on good terms. Hofuru holds Totsusahime to high regards and always obeys her orders.

Reina is Hofuru's acquaintance. They are said to have a "bit of a complicated relationship." [4] Hofuru refers to Reina as "that hateful white fox." [3] In a calendar, Hofuru can be seen in the background staring at Reina.

- Nigh-Absolute Immortality - Being a bake-danuki, Hofuru cannot die from natural causes such as aging or disease. [5]
- Shapeshifting - In Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea, Hofuru deceives Wadanohara by taking the form of Tatsumiya. When found out by the real Tatsumiya, she switches back to her original form.

- "Hofuru" roughly translates to "beating or killing a person" (essentially slaughter) in Japanese, [6] fitting the theme of the Totsusa Kingdom.
- In contrast, Yayoi (her real name) translates to "midnight" in Japanese. [7]
