— Ivlis, Seaside Dispatches 1

Ivlis (イヴリス) is the main antagonist of The Gray Garden and major character of The Sun's Curse. He is the devil of the Flame World. He is also the son of Siralos and father of Adauchi, Poemi, and Licorice.

Physical Description[]

thumb

Ivlis has raceless white skin and long dark gray hair. His hair has red streaks along the tips, held in a low ponytail. The color of his hair can change to a fiery red-orange when he is upset. He also has a pair of red horns, which are described to be hard, warm, and sharp like obsidian. [3] He has a warm [4] red tail as well. The base of his tail is sensitive. [5] He wears a long coat over a military uniform and two-toned red and black scarf which serves as detachable albeit flightless "wings" as explained in a now deleted MEMO post. He also wears black pants, black boots, and red boxers. [6] He has been described as "thicker" in terms of his posterior when compared to someone "normal" like Fumus. [3] He is also quite slender. [4]

Ivlis has red reptile-like [7] claws on his hands. The scales are as hard as a dragon's and quite warm. [4] The scales on the palms are soft and elastic, while on the back they are hard like armor. [8] His toenails are also red like his scales. [9]

During the events of The Sun's Curse, Ivlis wore a brown uniform with a cloak, similar to the one worn by Igls Unth. He also had a pair of red wings which were later torn off by Siralos as a punishment. Deep-Sea Prisoner then explained that due to a curse, Ivlis will never be able to grow new wings to fly home. [10]

When asked why Ivlis does not wear his scarf in more recent artworks, Deep-Sea Prisoner explained this could be because he "perhaps has had some character development." [11] In response to another question regarding an artwork of Ivlis wearing a tannish sweater and smiling, Deep-Sea Prisoner said, “What sort of thing made him smile like that, whether this will come out in a future story... let's wait and see, hmhmmm." [12] The uniform that Ivlis is typically depicted wearing is from before he gave birth to Licorice. He is said to wear different clothes today. [13] For reasons yet not known, Ivlis is growing out his hair. [14] The reason for Ivlis' hair length will be revealed in a future volume of Seaside Dispatches (Series). [5] His hair is very sensitive. [5]

Ivlis can be transformed into Burineko by Satanick. [15] He will puff out his fur when it gets cold, making it even fluffier. [16]

Personality[]

Angy

Anger towards Kcalb in Attack! Devil-ish Style.

Quick to anger, Ivlis' rage is often portrayed by his hair shifting from black to red with yellow-orange tips. He uses the pronoun "ore" when referring to himself. [17] He stays fairly expressionless. [18] Ivlis is stern and very serious but is immensely stupid and clumsy. [19] These traits mark him as an airhead and easy target, most notably for Reficul and Satanick. While filled with arrogant confidence during the events of The Gray Garden, he becomes extremely flustered when the two aforementioned characters are nearby. He is described as a sore loser with a hunger for power. [Citation needed] Before the events of The Gray Garden, Ivlis was stronger. [19] He was written to be "stupid and gullible" in the letter he was sent in the The Gray Garden bonus room scene. [20] He has a tendency to burn things he does not like. [21] For instance, if a cockroach were to appear in front of him, he would burn it. [21] Ivlis also has a "weak point" for scarves, likes flame, and dislikes slimy things. [22] He is also a little scared of the rabbits in Satanick's castle, as he does not know what they are thinking. [23] He used to claim he was straight. [4] He also does not work out much. [4] Ivlis is also a terrible painter. [20] Moshiburi (Ivlis if he had a mind of steel) is more aggressive than his typical self. [24]

When he was younger, Ivlis was considerably happier. He was stated to be a "sweet kid" and "too pure." [18] He was a naïve child, blindly swearing fealty to his father Siralos despite his lack of better judgment. Some illustrations also depict him sitting seiza style, possibly reflective of his formal upbringing. [17] Becoming more knowledgeable and understanding as he grew, Ivlis nurtured doubt and pity for Siralos' world; coming to question Siralos and the freedom and free will of his creations. As of his banishment, Ivlis has grown hateful and vengeful and has difficulty showing his emotions. [25] He kept planning the day he would have retribution against his father and god. Ivlis also used to like cuckoldry, but that was the result of his sullied feelings for Siralos. This setting has since been changed. [4] His sexuality is said to be more homosexual. [26]

Taste Disorder [27]
Even tasty fruits. Are like biting into a mouthful of bitter ashes. They won’t even pass down my throat. And my mouth is filled with coal.

Though Ivlis used to have a sweet tooth, he can no longer enjoy such foods due to the taste disorder he acquired through psychological shock. [11] This can be corroborated with an artwork where Ivlis is seen thinking that sweet things like cake taste like ash. [28] Whether Ivlis' taste disorder will be cured in the future is still a secret. [29] He does not have any particular favorite foods. [30] As seen in Bone, Ivlis instead uses alcohol as an emotional crutch. At such times, he drinks a lot and does not care about what happens to him afterwards. [11] It is said even he if cannot drink, Satanick still drags him to bars. [31]

His clumsiness is apparent in his inability to play any musical instrument. [30] When asked if Ivlis can sing, Deep-Sea Prisoner stated he is not used to singing, so he is probably not very good at it. [32] He does not really have any hobbies. [24] He reads books in his free time, but it only serves as a distraction. [24] When Ivlis lived in the Land of Sun, he used to take care of gardening plants and flowers before his banishment. [24] When asked if Ivlis will be happy in the future, Deep-Sea Prisoner responded, "Well, hmm, that has yet to be seen." [6]

As Burineko, he is a "scaredy-cat crybaby." [15] Burineko is afraid of cucumbers. [33] In Funamushi Private Deep-Sea Academy, Burineko is a cute kitty copied from Ivlis' hair, residing in Adauchi's and Poemi's rooms. [15]

Background[]

Ivlis was born from a flame in the Land of Sun by Siralos, alongside his sister Igls Unth who was made of light. Ivlis was a devoted follower of Siralos, listening closely to his every word and vowing his loyalty to him. However, as Ivlis grew, he began to have a better comprehension of Siralos’ actions and began to harbor uncertainty over the world Siralos made. He eventually questioned him, displaying his discontent that the denizens of the Land of the Sun were wholly dependent on the suns in the world. Siralos, being disappointed in Ivlis, ripped him off his wings and banished him to the Flame Underworld, where Ivlis rose to become the devil. [34]

thumb

In an attempt to avenge himself, Ivlis commanded the denizens of the Flame Underworld and his closet subordinates to attack the Gray Garden to acquire the power of its devil Kcalb. Failing to do so after being deterred by Yosafire and her friends, he retreats, losing a portion of his power due to Kcalb's countermeasures. On his way back to his world, he is confronted by Reficul, who captures Ivlis and turns him into a family pet. It is at this junction in time when Ivlis also becomes acquainted with Satanick. As shown in many of the Devil-Based mini-comics, Satanick and Reficul would both torture and humiliate Ivlis. Satanick and Ivlis' interactions began to become more intimate once Reficul permanently handed Ivlis to Satanick.

In ATTACK! Devil-ish Style, Ivlis is brought back to the Gray Garden by Satanick, who visits Kcalb and Etihw to bother them. After showing them a machine he made to predict the future, and saw how Ivlis would have killed the Gray Garden inhabitants if he had managed to kill Kcalb, he became upset. When Ivlis wakes up and becomes provoked by Kcalb’s presence, he is immediately beaten by Satanick. Siralos then arrives and begins to belittle Ivlis, expressing his regret for creating him, among other things. Ivlis cries as a result. He is eventually brought back to the Flame Underworld with Satanick.

In Seaside Dispatches 1, Ivlis gives birth to his son Licorice. Also, during Seaside Dispatches 1, Satanick realizes his feelings for Ivlis and has trouble dealing with them as shown in Distorted Love 1. He tries to confess his feelings to Ivlis but to no avail, hitting him when he gave no exact reaction. Later on, as Ivlis prepares to go to sleep, Satanick visits to the Flame Underworld to see him and ends up vomiting purple blood before passing out on Ivlis' lap.

thumb
Later in Distorted Love 2, Satanick goes to the Flame Underworld to see Ivlis once again. He tries to stab Ivlis but can not bring himself to; he eventually comes to tears as purple roses suddenly sprout on his horns. He becomes frustrated at Ivlis and himself before kissing Ivlis and confessing his love for him. Satanick then leaves, leaving Ivlis confused by the entire ordeal. Once Satanick begins to feel better about his feelings regarding Ivlis in Rainbow, he goes to see him once more. Near the end of Truth, Ivlis expresses his confusion of Satanick’s feelings, claiming that he had "never been loved."

thumb
In Nightmare, Ivlis goes to sleep when he is suddenly met by Licorice who asks to sleep with him. That night, Ivlis has a dream about his banishment from the Land of Sun and wakes up in a panic. He walks to a nearby room to cry so to not disturb Licorice who is sleeping in his room before going back to bed. When Licorice notices Ivlis cry in his sleep, he hugs him.

Siralos[]

TSCGIF30

Siralos banishing Ivlis.

Siralos is Ivlis' father and creator, having created Ivlis from his flame. When he served him, Ivlis referred to Siralos formally as "Siralos-sama." [17] He continues to do so when even thinking about him as depicted in various illustrations. Ivlis genuinely loved Siralos and was wholly devoted and loyal to him. As he grew, he began to question some of Siralos' actions. Coming to him one day, Ivlis' questioned if the world's inhabitants have freedom as they solely rely on the sun. He expressed he felt sorry for them. This in turn caused Siralos to consequently banish Ivlis from the Land of Sun. He tore his wings from him and forced him to reside in the Flame Underworld.

Siralos thinks of Ivlis as an insignificant being, easily discarding him when "[Siralos] no longer [needed] him." Along with his banishment, this can be considered the reason why Ivlis invaded the Gray World, in order to accumulate power and take revenge against Siralos. However, in Attack! Devil-ish Style, Siralos implies Ivlis' doubt is not the real reason why he was cast out. Ivlis' banishment both mentally and emotionally scarred him. The thought of Siralos now drives his every action. In the Nightmare mini-comic, Ivlis has a traumatic dream back to his banishment. Awaking from the dream and into consciousness, he rose up from the bed to cry elsewhere in the room so as to not disturb Licorice who was sleeping in his bed.

Although they have a strained relationship, Ivlis and Siralos share many traits, such as pride and the ability to create light weaponry. Siralos was also the one that taught Ivlis how to create life. [35] Siralos also taught Ivlis and his sister how to fly, instructing them carefully and gently. [36]

Ivlis used to claim he was straight, but it was merely a lie since he has desires towards Siralos. [4] Even if Ivlis never questioned Siralos' actions and continued living in his world, he would have never confessed his feelings to him and would instead continue looking up to Siralos. [36] Siralos only had the perception of Ivlis as a cherished son, not originally a love interest. [36] As for if he still views Ivlis as a dear son, that is "a secret." [36]

Igls Unth[]

Sunscurse

Ivlis and Igls together.

Igls is Ivlis' older twin sister. [2] In the original Japanese text, Ivlis refers to her by name without honorifics. [2] They were created at the same time and were raised together. When Ivlis began to have doubts toward their creator and father Siralos, she rebuked him, believing everything Siralos does cannot be mistaken. Igls' reaction to his banishment is unknown, but official artwork portrays Ivlis' caring disposition for her, never having an intention of troubling the angel. Igls is said to have been sad her precious little brother met a fate like this. [18] Before Ivlis was banished, the two were said to be very close. Igls now worries about Ivlis because she is a decent and kind sister. [4]

Siralos forbids Igls from seeing Ivlis. [2] As for if the two would ever meet again, Deep-Sea Prisoner stated, "Yes; maybe someday." [11]

If Igls were to ever see Burineko (Ivlis as a cat), she would pet him all over. [37]

Licorice[]

Licoivlis

Licorice's unrequited love for Ivlis.

Licorice is Ivlis' son. Licorice identifies Ivlis as his mother and calls him “Mama” (in his child form - "kaa-san" without the honorific "o" at the start) or “Mother” (in his adult form). As an infant he would call Ivlis "Ma." [17] Licorice will also call Ivlin Mama, due to Ivlis/Ivlin having given birth to him. [3] Ivlis breastfed Licorice when he was an infant. [38] Around Ivlis as a child, Licorice speaks in a shy and sweet manner; as an adult, he talks in a more rushed and intense way. [17] When asked what Ivlis' feelings were towards Licorice's birth, Deep-Sea Prisoner said it is hard to say since half his spirit had caved in during that time. [30] However, Ivlis got pregnant because he wanted to. [39]

Ivlis became a lot softer after Licorice was born. [40] Licorice genuinely loves and cares for Ivlis, and will do all he can to ensure Ivlis’ safety, most notably from Satanick. He also does not like when others (mainly Satanick) are interested in his mother. [4] He is very protective towards Ivlis, and reacts violently to any who opposes his mother, as seen in his treatment of Satanick and disapproving look to Adauchi in an artwork. Licorice is not violent, but he will intercede on Ivlis' behalf [41] when Ivlis is confronted by overwhelming opposition. Licorice also seems to like drawing things for Ivlis as shown in a mini-comic and Sunahama update.

Licorice seems to enjoy spending time with Ivlis, even going as far as to sleep in his bed with him during the Nightmare comics. He takes advantage of his "kid privileges" in being able to share the same bed with him. Licorice has been described as mentally strong enough, having no trouble taking advantage of the fact that he is a child. He does not care how others view him, simply using his status to get special privileges. [12]

Licoiv danger

Licorice's advancement on Ivlis during Dangerous Night.

Over time, Licorice developed feelings for Ivlis, as seen in the Like Mother, Like Son mini-comics. Be it Ivlis or Ivlin, Licorice would have liked him/her since his sexuality is "Mama." [26] Deep-Sea Prisoner also commented that Ivlis and Licorice are almost similar in terms of their sexuality being more homosexual. [26] Confused as to what he was experiencing, Licorice sought counsel from his caretaker Emalf. However, Licorice is still in turmoil as to what he is experiencing and ends up approaching his mother while he sleeps. Giving into temptation, Licorice only ceases his activities when Ivlis calls out for Satanick to stop. Horrified by what he has done, Licorice flees to his room. He is then seen cowering under a blanket, shivering while apologizing profusely to Ivlis for acting no better than his father Satanick. In following Sunahama updates, it is shown while their relationship is not damaged due to Ivlis’ ignorance of Licorice’s actions, Licorice also has not presented any signs of owning up to his mistake and seems to be leaving his mother in the dark about the ordeal, regardless of the consequences.

Adauchi[]

Adauchi is Ivlis' son. Before he ran away from home, he would refer to Ivlis as oto-san (father). [2] He now refers to his father as oyaji - an informal way of saying "old man." [2] They are on very bad terms. [19] Adauchi believes his father is an airhead - an opinion held by many others. As of recent, it has been stated Adauchi is in his rebellious period and ran away from home but actually still loves his dad. [42] Ivlis is unaware of Adauchi's current whereabouts. [11]

In Funamushi Private Deep-Sea Academy, Adauchi will actually protect and stand up for Ivlis, even telling Satanick Ivlis does not like being sexually harassed. [42]

Poemi[]

Poemi is Ivlis' daughter and underling. Poemi is quite fanatical of her father; she both respects and adores him.

Subordinates[]

Rieta[]

Rieta is one of Ivlis' underlings. Rieta has been with Ivlis since when he was still in the Land of Sun. [12] She is fiercely loyal to him and displays determination towards making sure everything is in order for him, ensuring his safety above all else. In The Gray Garden for instance, she steps between Ivlis and Reficul and boldly states that she will not allow anyone to lay a finger on him.

Rieta also deeply cares about Ivlis' wellbeing. In The Gray Garden she advised him that they should retreat during battle, and later encourages him to cheer up when he is feeling upset. In the Truth mini-comic, Rieta is shown comforting Ivlis when he is thinking about Siralos. Additionally, one illustration in which Rieta is seen crying behind a smiling Ivlis, titled "ただ、あなたの笑顔が見たかった" ("I just wanted to see your smile") alludes to Rieta's desire to see Ivlis happy.

582-2017

"I just wanted to see your smile."

Deep-Sea Prisoner commented that Ivlis and Rieta's relationship is one that "cannot be easily explained with words." [43] They do not share a romantic relationship, and she is more akin to a daughter. [31]

When asked where Rieta currently is, Deep-Sea Prisoner responded, "I think she'll come back at some point. This is a sort of trial for Ivlis, losing the last person - and only person - he could rely on." [12] Ivlis remembers Rieta; regarding this, more will be revealed in Seaside Dispatches (Series). [44]

Emalf[]

Emalf is one of Ivlis' underlings. Ivlis properly trusts and relies on Emalf. [5] Throughout the events of The Gray Garden, Emalf appears somewhat fearful of incurring Ivlis' displeasure if Ivlis were to fail in the invasion of the Gray Garden. Though occasionally questioning Ivlis' decisions for the worse, Emalf's loyalties are steadfast. Even though Ivlis is his devil, Emalf believes he is an airhead - a view shared by many. Despite Ivlis being a devil lord, Emalf refers to him simply as "Ivlis-san." [17] Even if Emalf disguised himself, Ivlis would recognize him. [5]

After the Gray Garden invasion, Emalf witnessed Ivlis experience many discountenancing circumstances, such as in ATTACK! Devil-ish Style when he goes to retrieve one of Poemi's toys left in Ivlis' bedroom and stumbles upon Satanick making love with him. He has also seen Satanick's romantic confessions towards Ivlis in Like Mother, Like Son.

The Gray Garden Cast[]

Etihw[]

Etihw and Ivlis are enemies having met through the events of The Gray Garden. While Etihw talked with Chelan and Dialo on the beach, Ivlis intercepted them, sealing Etihw away in a special flame prison rendering many of their abilities unusable. Etihw later manages to break free right in time to confront Ivlis. The two are on bad terms as of Ivlis' failed invasion. Etihw has deep hatred toward Ivlis for hurting Kcalb and their world's denizens.

In the Attack! Devil-ish Style comics, Etihw witnessed some of Ivlis' torment at the hands of Satanick. They appeared surprised by the treatment, though their personal thoughts on the matter remain uncertain.

Kcalb[]

Kcalb's powers were nearly stolen by Ivlis during the events of The Gray Garden, but Ivlis ended up having a portion of his own power thieved instead. Due to that, he became weak and got defeated by Yosafire's group. Prior to the events of The Gray Garden, they were both strangers to each other. Upon seeing Kcalb in ATTACK! Devil-ish Style, Ivlis grows enraged though is unsuccessful attacking him thanks to Satanick's interference. It is said during the Normal End, Ivlis was really strong at that point in time so it was easy to break Kcalb's soul. [19]

Yosafire[]

Yosafire is Ivlis' enemy. Yosafire encountered Ivlis when he attempted to kill Kcalb and take his power. Ivlis sexually assaulted Yosafire after she had attempted fighting him off alone. It was later revealed in the Mini-Comics his motivation for doing this was due to Yosafire's glasses being the same as the ones his father Siralos wears. [45] However, Ivlis was stopped in time by Kcalb.

Reficul[]

Reficul is Ivlis' tormentor. After the events of The Gray Garden, she had taken him in with her as the family pet, making him refer to her as "Queen-sama." She would occasionally abuse him sexually. [46] However, Ivlis' virginity remained intact, and Reficul only disciplined Ivlis like a SM play queen [47] and did not directly torture him. [48] She trained him due to his feminine attributes. [48] Reficul eventually got bored with Ivlis and gave him over to Satanick who began torturing him. [48] Reficul is one of the three women Ivlis is capable of being attracted to. [49]

Satanick[]

Yanderestnk

"I'm not letting you go...! Our love is pure love!" [50]

Satanick and Ivlis have a complicated relationship. Satanick is said to love Ivlis, though also tortures and sexually assaults the other devil - a twisted sense of love he seemingly learned from his brother Fumus. Satanick and Ivlis have a son together named Licorice.

Satanick and Ivlis met when they were introduced to each other by Reficul. She eventually got bored with him, and with Satanick coming around more and more, handed him over to Satanick who began torturing him. [48] As shown in Devil-based, Satanick would often insult Ivlis, calling him nicknames such as "Buri-Trash" and ridicule him alongside Reficul. When they first knew each other, Satanick would typically speak to Ivlis in a casual and rough manner. He also used to refer to Ivlis with "omae." [51] [17] After realizing he loved him, he began using overly affectionate speech when addressing him. [17] After Reficul left Ivlis with Satanick, Satanick began to be more belligerent with him.

He eventually fell in love with Ivlis during the events of Seaside Dispatches 1. [18] It is also during this junction of time where Satanick and Ivlis began engaging with each other in a more sexual manner, leading to Ivlis giving birth to their son Licorice. Once Satanick realized his love for Ivlis in Distorted Love, he confessed to Ivlis after much denial and contemplation. Ivlis, however, was confused with his confession. Satanick then proceeded to have difficulty managing his newfound emotions for Ivlis, the factors of which often lead to Satanick becoming frustrated with himself and hurting Ivlis on impulse. In spite of this, he eventually accepted and indulged in his feelings for Ivlis. In Truth, Satanick inquires his robot 4545 about Ivlis’ feelings for him. It is then when 4545 reveals that Ivlis’ heart has begun "changing" since he met Satanick. Licorice takes note of this fact in Like Mother, Like Son as well.

Corneredburi

"HUH?" [50]

In contrast to how their relationship was in the past, where Satanick would often bully Ivlis and make the former annoyed with him, Satanick now tries to romantically pursue Ivlis at any given opportunity whilst Ivlis does not react and voices his displeasure more. Satanick, however, does not take what he says into consideration. He does not appear to become as mad at him as he did in the past either.

When asked if Satanick would ever apologize to Ivlis, Deep-Sea Prisoner speculated that he may one day genuinely apologize. [12] Ivlis may have complicated feelings regarding Satanick, but he might accept Satanick's apology. Deep-Sea Prisoner stated, "In this world, there are a lot of relationships in which two people can be together even if they don't always completely forgive each other." [12] However, if Ivlis were to refuse Satanick's apology, Satanick would likely become severely depressed. [12]

In Funamushi Private Deep-Sea Academy (Deep-Sea Prisoner's Highschool AU) Satanick and Ivlis' relationship is more toned-down. They do not partake in violent acts. Their first kiss was following an invitation from Satanick during a sunset after a date. Afterwards, they went to a love hotel. Ivlis also gave birth to Licorice in this AU, which he wanted. [52] [53] Also in this alternative universe there exists Sataneko - a feline copy of Satanick. He was originally sent into Ivlis' house for surveillance purposes, but he rebelled against Satanick. He now lives with Burineko, a feline copy of Ivlis. [15]

Photon[]

Photon and Ivlis have appeared in an artwork together, in which Photon was shown holding a bouquet of flowers and crying above Ivlis, who was underwater. The artwork was captioned: "You, who will never shine in all eternity. Goodnight." [54] Content featuring them will be written about in the future. [55]

Lil[]

Lil and Ivlis have not yet been seen interacting, but Deep-Sea Prisoner has said that Lil's opinion on Ivlis is that she would "like a bite of [Ivlis]." Satanick stops her from pursuing this. [56]

Envi[]

Envi and Ivlis have yet to be shown interacting, but Envi is said to hate him with feelings akin to jealousy and/or rivalry. [57] Because Envi does not have many opportunities to interact with Ivlis, he never confronts him directly. [58] The two of them only see each other when Satanick brings Ivlis to his castle. [58]

Fumus[]

Fumus and Ivlis have not yet been seen interacting, though Deep-Sea Prisoner has hinted that they will meet at some point. [59]

Trivia[]

  • Ivlis' name is derived from Iblis, [67] the Islamic name for the devil in the Quran.
  • Ivlis' son Licorice inherited the ability to use Light Projectiles similar to Siralos, Igls Unth, and Ivlis himself. However, Ivlis' eldest son Adauchi as well as his daughter Poemi have yet to show the same capabilities.
  • An official shimeji for Burineko used to be available for download on Deep-Sea Prisoner's website. [68]
  • From 28 June to 3 August, 2017, Deep-Sea Prisoner hosted a popularity poll that let people vote on their three most favorite characters of hers. When the results came out on 7 September, 2017, Ivlis was ranked 1st. [69]
  • If Licorice were to see Ivlis dressed as a maid, he would immediately revert to adult form, blush profusely, and hide his face. [70]
  • Regarding the maid illustration, Ivlis is being made to wear these outfits and even pose in suggestive ways. [4]
  • Ivlis would not mind if Licorice dressed up as a bunny. [23]
  • In the oiran AU, Ivlis is an oiran named Buriran. Having incurred the wrath of Siralos, who is a shogun, he was sold off to a yūkaku called Mogewara, a wordplay on Yoshiwara. While Buriran grieves, Satanick, who is a daimyo, comes and takes a liking to him upon first sight. [2]
    • Satanick begins to travel to Mogewara again and again to meet Buriran, eating and talking with him a few times before sleeping with him as per the custom. Eventually, Satanick pays a large amount of money to take Buriran as his wife. Licorice is later born after the two are wed. [2]
    • Ivlis does not like tobacco in this alternative universe. [2]
  • When asked about Ivlis' voice, Deep-Sea Prisoner said it is not exactly a manly one, and it is hard for her to explain, as it is not exactly high either. Deep-Sea Prisoner then commented that she could imagine him with the voice of Johnny Yong Bosch. [31]
  • In regards to a Christmas artwork, Deep-Sea Prisoner commented Ivlis was supposed to dress up as a reindeer but turned out to be a present. If a reindeer was needed, Envi would be the one to wear the antlers; he would be grumpy having lost his identity. [31]
  • In Funamushi Private Deep-Sea Academy, Ivlis uses a flip phone due to a cellphone not responding to his scaled hands. [71]
  • Deep-Sea Prisoner plans to make a mini-comic in the future that features the roles of Satanick, Reficul, and Ivlis. It was unspecified what Ivlis' role in the mini-comic would be. [72]
  • In a future volume of Seaside Dispatches (Series), Ivlis will learn about Satanick's past with Victor Flankenstein. [73]
  • The "sophisticated clothes" Ivlis wore on his date with Satanick to Satanick Land show his "sheltered boy side." [38]
  • In regards to if Ivlis and Shirogane could ever be friends, they are not very social and would not get along with each other even if they did meet. [74]

Quotes[]

Power. I'm killing him for his power. ...That's all.
Ivlis to Yosafire and company, The Gray Garden
Hah... peace? In this world, built on a thousand sacrifices? What a fake peace it is.
Ivlis to Yosafire, The Gray Garden
Hmph... Remember this day.
Ivlis, The Gray Garden Bonus Room
What should I do?
Ivlis to himself, The Sun's Curse
What should I do?
Ivlis to himself, The Sun's Curse

Lord Siralos. In this world which you created, life cannot survive without the sun. Yet that makes me feel so sorry for them. Do they have no freedom?
Ivlis to Siralos, The Sun's Curse
Is doubting a sin? Is it praise, is it adoration that defines righteousness? Then do those who have been cursed have no such thing as freedom? And then, are we who live in this world the same?
Ivlis to himself, The Sun's Curse
The thing which I hate the most in the world is - myself, isn't it...
Ivlis to himself, Seaside Dispatches 1
Love, huh? I've never been loved...
Ivlis to himself, Truth
Devils aren't loved by gods. I'll never be a person worthy of his love. Why am I devil? Why was I created? ... No one will ever tell me. ... Ah, it's all so comical, isn't it? This world; everything in it. ... It's all just one big farce.
Ivlis to Satanick, Bone
Like I can help it... You're the one who made me this way, aren't you? Are you trying to imply that I have any kind of feelings towards you? ... Don't get ahead of yourself.
Ivlis, Bone
