If I recall, DSP apologized(?) about cancelling the remake, and so they'll continue to work on it. Still, I'm hoping for another game release(translated, of course) sometime in the future even if their agenda is full of "how to promote myself even more".
They are, like, selling merch now. What's next? A 30-min anime like Plastic Nee-san?
To my understanding, the remake is still going on. I heard it's being given priority over Carnival Rhythm and General Hashasky's Great Adventure. Although, don't quote me on that - I'm not sure if it's true or not. You can find its story banner in the upcoming media at least, right above Devil Girl Ivlin's story banner.
It seems that DSP's process has slowed, now that they're creating more quality things. Since, remember: most if not all of the sprites in DSP's latest games are custom creations. DSP has been creating detailed sprites for their RPGs. Plus, they aren't working solely on RPGs - they've also began to create merchandise, which undoubtedly requires some time dedicated to creating a system of making the merchandise and shipping it.
There's a two year gap between the latest and penultimate creation - Poison Bugs was created in 2015, and Sandhill Communication No. 1 was released in 2017.
So it's not that it's been cancelled or that DSP is waiting for an anniversary or something, it's just that DSP has a bunch of things on their plate on top of their work taking longer because they're making it more detailed.
